Breckenridge Colorado is one of the most visited ski towns in North America. Located a little over two hours from Denver it is in the heart of Summit County. Nearby towns include Frisco, Silverthorne, Dillon, Alma, Fairplay, and Keystone Resort located about 30 minutes from the town of Breckenridge. When visiting Breckenridge you will need to review multiple choices for all sorts of things in order to plan your trip correctly. Everything from plane tickets to lift tickets to lodging to ground transportation will need to planned ahead of time to make sure you will have a nice vacation when visiting Colorado.
Most likely your first stop will be trying to look at airfare. Keep in mind there are two airports that service the Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Vail, and Beaver Creek area. You have Denver International Airport and Eagle County Airport. If you will be going to Breckenridge, Keystone, and/or Copper Mountain you should fly into Denver International Airport. It is usually cheaper to fly into DIA and you will have more rental car and ground transportation options versus flying into Eagle Airport. You can fly into Eagle County Airport if you will be visiting Vail or Beaver Creek. However, make sure you explore all options first because many times it is cheaper to fly into the Denver Airport rather than Eagle. Continental, Delta, American, and many more airlines service Eagle County Airport. All major airlines service Denver International Airport. Once you have your place tickets bought it’s probably time to get your lodging all squared away.
Lodging is plentiful in Breckenridge is plentiful from high class to resorts to renting a home personally from someone on VRBO or similar sites Breckenridge. You need to start out by narrowing down the type of lodging you are looking for; hotel, lodge, condo, loft, etc. Then decide where in Breckenridge you would like to stay. You can stay ski in/ski out, up in the mountains, in a nice mountain home, in a nice place in town. Having a place that is in town is very useful during the winter months as you can easily walk through town and take the Summit Stage up to mountain when it’s time to ski.
Once you know which airport you will be flying into and where you will be staying, you can now work on ground transportation to Breckenridge from Denver or the Eagle Airport. You can either rent a car or take a shuttle when getting to Breckenridge. Hertz, Avis, Enterprise, Dollar, and more all have spots at Denver International Airport. Keep in mind if you will be renting a car you will need to rent one that is capable of making it up the mountains. Also keep in mind the cost of gas and make sure you have a parking space in Breckenridge. Parking in Breckenridge is very limited. There is a free bus service provided by the Summit Stage and Powderhound Transportation provides taxi service in Breckenridge.
When looking at a shuttle to Breckenridge you will have multiple options from Colorado Mountain Express to limo companies to Powderhound Transportation. The two big companies are Colorado Mountain Express and Powderhound Transportation. CME is owned by Vail resorts, the same people charging you a day to ski, and provides shared shuttle ride to and from Breckenridge. Keep in mind this is pretty much like Super Shuttle for 3 hours. You have to make tons of stops, etc. Powderhound Transportation is locally based in Breckenridge Colorado and locally owned. Powderhound Transportation provides Breckenridge shuttle service. There are no unwanted stops with Powderhound and you get to choose your own times. Powderhound Transportation can transfer guests from Denver to Breckenridge.
