Great adventure travel destinations for 2011
Adventure destinations for 2011
with another holiday season behind us, finally, it’s time to start looking for next year and the consolidation of our travel plans. If you have not already made preparations for 2011, and are looking for something a little more adventurous this year, then maybe we can suggest some places that can meet your needs.
Last year, when we share our list of the best destinations for adventure travel that was filled with a few countries are recognized as providing exceptional experiences for adventure travelers. Places such as Nepal, Tibet and Peru, which are widely considered classics of this type of trip. For a list of this year, these places have been passed in the House of adventure travel of Fame, giving way to some destinations and close to get some much needed recognition.
So, without further ado, here are my choices for the most popular tourist destinations for 2011 adventure.
USAThis may seem an odd choice to start with the list, but listen before rejecting it. United States is very diverse, with much to offer to all travelers, not to mention those who seek adventure. Whatever your outdoor exercise or addiction to adrenaline-inducing, you will find a great place to get it here in the United States. Enjoy mountain climbing? Then go to Colorado, where there are 53 peaks over 14,000 feet in this state alone. Mountain biking is your thing? Then make the trip in Moab, Utah, home to some of the best tracks in the world. Kayak? Super! What is your taste? Whitewater? Plain water? Sea kayaking? Whatever you can do well here in the U.S., where many forests, deserts, mountains and rivers to explore. If you come from abroad, you may be surprised and a bit overwhelmed with all the options. And if you’re in the U.S., you may be thinking about the magic of domestic travel as well. India
Another large and geographically diverse country, India can attract adventure travelers with a variety of options. Want to spend some time on the beach or diving and snorkeling? Then go to Goa for a lot of fun with water. Prefer hiking in the mountains? Then make your way north on the remote to access the high Himalayas, with its picturesque mountain villages and Buddhist culture. For other types of movement of the head of the famous Valley of Flowers an experience of over 300 species of colorful plants in one place. And to experience a unique adventure, explore the vast Thar Desert in the back of a camel. Ethiopia
Africa has always had a certain charm for adventure travelers, with many headed to Kenya, Tanzania, South Africa or the classic safari experience. But there are many other fantastic destinations on the continent that are worth exploring as well, most of which have much less tourist traffic. Take Ethiopia, for example. The country is rich in history and culture and offers many options for the active traveler. I recommend trekking the Simien Mountains where you will find baboons climbing packs on the way to the medieval fortress of Gondar and the trip to Lake Tana, source of the Blue Nile. Go through the holy city of Lalibela, and that will be processed on the site of a series of amazing churches carved into the rock. [Photo: Justin Clements via Wikimedia]
Argentina
For travelers who want to go to extremes, it is hard to beat Argentina. The country offers visitors plenty to see and to explore a varied number of unique landscapes. For example, visitors can go in the area of Niagara Falls to enjoy the rainforest and then south to Tierra del Fuego to the taste of Antarctica. Hikers and climbers will find plenty to love in the perfect neighborhood Patagonia and paddlers will be delighted by whitewater and options. The more adventurous can really test their courage in the Aconcaqua 22,841 feet, the highest mountain in the world outside the Himalayas.
Croatia
Over the last decade, Europe has moved from a closely guarded secret in a popular destination for those seeking the unique cultures, history , luxury, and fantastic art. However, the region has much to offer the adventure traveler as well, with Croatia at the top as the best destination for adrenaline junkies. Travelers who like to be in the water will love sea kayaking and sailing in the Adriatic Sea, while those who prefer to be under him, he likes to delve into the various shipwrecks that are off the coast. Moving inside, the rowers are crystal clear rivers to run, filled with lots of white water, while hikers and backpackers can enjoy the mountain trails with views of the surrounding area. Head to the mountain of Ucka for a walk through the dense woods that eventually give rise to a spectacular view of the Kvarner Bay.
New Zealand
New Zealand has won a place on our list last year, but it is a great adventure destination that deserves another nod to the year 2011 as well. For many travelers, New Zealand is the adventure capital of the world thanks to its incredibly diverse terrain, resulting in one of the best mountain biking, canoeing, climbing and options anywhere. It is also home to what is probably the biggest leap in the world in the shape of the Milford Track, a 33 mile trail through the heart of Fiordland National Park, surrounded by some of the most beautiful landscapes the world. The winter months bring skiing and snowboarding, and options, with Mount Ruapehu, an active volcano cone in the North Island to be among the most popular. [Photo: via Wikimedia Wikikiwiman]
Guyana
often overlooked in favor of the most popular destinations in South America, Guyana is a great option for adventurers who seek to escape the crowds and get off the beaten track. Highlights hits in the jungle canopy of the Iwokrama Forest Reserve and a visit to Niagara Kaieteur 741 feet high, which is considered the highest waterfall drop in the world. But no trip to Guyana is not complete without a stroll along the Rupununi region in the south. This wetland is home remote and isolated an incredible variety of wildlife, including giant river otters, black caiman, anteaters, jaguars, tapirs, anacondas and more. Bird watchers are particularly attractive place with hundreds of unique species on the screen.
There you have it. Ten great destinations that will fill your itinerary with a lot of adventures in the coming year. Enjoy!
