How to Deal With Coming Home From a Trip

How to Deal With Coming Home From a Trip

You did it- you have traveled the world and now are resting at home. Pretty wonderful huh? You’ll have memories you will keep forever and friends for a lifetime. But now many people wonder what the next thing to do is. After the glow of welcome back parties fades and you are tired of telling the same stories, what do you do next?

Coming home from traveling around the world is the hardest part. There’s a mixture of emotions: excitement, anxiety, fear, joy, and nervousness. After the honeymoon is over and reality sets in, people are left feeling a little lost. You spent a long time preparing for traveling, a long time traveling, and then suddenly, it’s over. Just like that. It’s as though someone slammed on the brakes to your life and, for many people, that can be kind of gloomy. Coming home is more about dealing mentally than doing anything in particular.

Here are a few methods that can help you cope with those emotions and get yourself happy again:

Stay Busy- If you sit around thinking about the good times, you’re only going to resent being home and get depressed. Go out, get a job, get a hobby, join a gym. Even if you are super psyched to be home, the first few weeks are always rough as you adjust back into “normal” society. The best thing to do is to stay busy. One great way to stay busy is to be a tourist in your own city. Since you have been gone so long, things have probably changed. Go explore your town like you would Paris or Sydney. You’re bound to find something new and you’ll be able to feel as though you are back on a holiday while adjusting to home.

Plan Another Trip- If the thought of staying home is killing you, get out! Plan your next trip. Even if you never go. Go start looking up destinations. Buy a guidebook. Plan some routes. Look at flights. You’ll get in the mood and you’ll get excited. Even if your trip never materializes, at least you will be taking your mind off from the reality that it’s time to settle in one place for a bit. It makes coming home seem like a pit stop and not the finish line.

Get a Job- Getting a job ties into staying busy. By getting a job, you can take your mind off things and begin to put all your energy and new found sense of adventure to good use. It also helps you replenish your bank account so you can get to traveling again.

Read Travel Blogs- Because if you aren’t traveling, live through the people who are traveling and get the motivation to get going again or even get motivated.

Returning home from the road is about getting back into the world you left and focusing on taking what you learned and applying it to your daily life. A lot of long term backpackers end up leaving again, afflicted by a virus that they can never cure. Others stay home because their journey taught them that what they wanted the most was what they left behind at home. Either way, we need to know how to cope with that experience.

The party would be shared by another individual or family, and in case of need. This avoids the costs of maintenance throughout the year and only have to pay for the time they are there. This option was quickly adopted by people looking to buy holiday homes now.

So instead of leaving the house empty for a larger share of year when opting for timesharing.

You’ve chosen your holiday home by the type of person you are and what you usually like to do. If you are someone who likes water sports like swimming, fishing or boating, you’re somewhere near the waterfront where you have access to water. The time spent here would be to determine the type of holiday which will invest in

To find a beautiful holiday home is not really difficult, but it depends on you and your family’s needs and understand what suits you best. The options offered by the real estate market including homes, condos and timeshares. You must assess how long it actually happens in a holiday home before venturing to invest in one. It makes no sense in buying a nice home visit once a year. Therefore, it would be wiser to opt for part-time in this scenario. Feeling at Home When Travelling on Business

Feeling at Home When Travelling on Business

Business trips offer a great opportunity for business associates to sell products and services, network with other companies and industries, and ultimately make business advancements. But while company-related travel can have a very positive effect on businesses, they can also wear down on individuals who have to travel for work all the time. Being away from home isn’t easy – even if it’s to strike great company deals and build a better business. But there are ways to help the frequent business traveller feel more at home when they’re travelling for work.

To begin, it’s always a good idea to take a few of your favourite – or most comforting – items with you when you travel. Some people like to pack their comfortable slippers along on every business trip, while others might take along a good book or some aromatherapy candles to light while they unwind after a day of meetings. If you have a family or children at home, you might take a small picture of them to prop up on your nightstand – just to make it more like home. Or, consider taking some of your favourite soothing music along, for when you’re getting ready for a meeting in the morning, or to relaxing at night.

Another step you can take to make yourself feel more at home during business trips is to stay in serviced apartments. Serviced apartments are a great alternative to hotels for various reasons – one of the most prominent being that they feel more personal. Another advantage is that serviced apartments are cost effective, with utility bills usually included and rates applying to per apartment rather than per person. And, of course, serviced apartments offer a highly flexible accommodation option as well – which means you can hold meetings in your apartment, stay with colleagues at no extra charge for more people in the apartment, and include extra services – such as room service, concierge and laundry/dry cleaning – if necessary. All in all, serviced apartments will make you feel like you’re coming back to a home rather than simply a hotel room –- which can make all the difference when you travel frequently on business.

So, whether you choose to carry your slippers with you on every business trip to London, or stay in serviced apartments in Edinburgh while travelling to Scotland’s capital for work, keep in mind that even the smallest details can help you feel at home.

Today everyone is trying to make easy money, means, earn money with no or less efforts. One such type of earning money is called pyxism. It is the way of earning money from marketing network, which is based on Internet or web. Running a small internet travel business or travel home business is also a good idea to start earning money with the use of Internet. First of all, check with what options are best suitable for you. Doing any home based marketing or selling business requires a good amount of contacts over the internet in the form of email addresses or contacts on various social networking websites as well.

In this business one should always be “connected” to the community with the latest offers, discounts and various other schemes. With all this, it gives a feeling to the potential customer that, yes something or the other is happening at the agency and it looks like to be “active” one. So the customer will get dragged to book the tickets from your offer. Along with internet travel business the very near and connected business of vacation clubs can be combined to give more benefits. One can look for the vacation club agency for booking the hotels, or motels of the particular club. The concept travel and vacation club go hand in hand. As during the vacation travel, people will like to have some good place to stay and enjoy their vacations, may be short or long in their own way. So the customer who is going for travel booking will happily inquire about the staying facilities at the venue in terms of vacation club.

Gain an Understanding of the Reasons to Never Leave Home Without Travel Insurance

November 6th, 2010 Comments off

What would you do if you sustained two broken arms in a fall from a high plain while traveling abroad? If you had traveled to a third world country, your trip could very easily get turned upside down. Travel insurance may have been the last thing on your mind until your fall.

In a third-world country, reaching a hospital might require days of walking followed by even more time driving. Once you’re at the medical center you may end up paying a local teenager to bring food you can eat, as well as picking up painkillers from a neighboring kiosk. Many third-world hospitals have no facilities to provide food and don’t stock much medication.

If you required an operation, it would be a risky prospect to rely on the hospital’s methods of sterilization and anesthesia administration. Medical care to have both arms surgically set and then put into casts would likely cost you a mere $100 cash. You immediately head for the nearest airport and book the first plane out of this nightmare.

In a situation such as this, four operations might be covered by private insurance, and physical therapy over the next six months. However, if you don’t have insurance, these options won’t be available to you. The trouble is that a lot of travelers don’t think it’s important to have travel insurance, but the more remote or exotic the destination, the more it’s needed.

Travel insurance is available through some health insurers and travel agents and it may combine medical care with trip cancellation coverage. Although policies vary widely, a set fee per $100 of coverage is often the method on which rates are based.

Those who value travel insurance most are the elderly; they often worry about needing care for an existing health issue while abroad or having to cancel a trip due to illness. Medicare does not offer coverage for medical care while overseas. Medicare being the chief health care coverage for the elderly.

When a patient is a tourist, often hospitals demand cash, travelers checks or credit card payment. These are fine for smaller accidents such as if you were to require a few stitches. An emergency requiring more extensive care, however, could make travel insurance a necessity.

Travel insurance works by the insurer reimbursing you for trip cancellations due to illness or death. This cost reimbursement covers incidents related to yourself or that of a relative. Insurance will also compensate you if your tour group or airline goes bankrupt.

There are also important health care issues that should be taken care of before traveling abroad, aside from travel insurance. Certain shots and vaccinations are required before visiting certain countries which necessitates a visit to a travel clinic at a local hospital. Before traveling, it would also be wise to get information, in writing, from your health plan provider, on how they want overseas medical care handled.

Pack with your health in mind and include a first aid kit along with bandages, a thermometer and an antibacterial ointment. If you’re on medication, pack more than you would normally expect to need. Documentation for your medication should include Latin names as well as the generic names.

There’s still some protection available with credit cards if you don’t have travel insurance. Paying with American Express, for instance, provides some coverage for the following: lost baggage, roadside assistance, rental car damage, some injuries, and in some cases coverage for death is included. If you pay extra fees, you can also be covered in the event of emergency evacuations, additional medical costs, and flights which you may miss.

Planning ahead can save many dramas if the unexpected were to occur. When purchasing insurance, it’s important to take the time to read the policy thoroughly. Travel insurance can be a great help, but policy details are important and should be understood.

Before you Travel from Boston, Get A Home Alarm

November 4th, 2010 Comments off

When you’re planning on traveling across the globe there is an entire grocery list of things you need to do, thing to buy, to plan for, prepare for and reserve. Even though the current economic situation has been depressing, to say the least, there are still a plethora of travel agencies waiting for your service, your business and your interest in their bargain priced deals. Booking your travel plans through a travel agent may at first glance seem like an unnecessary cost, but once you look more into the work that a travel agent can do for you, you might begin to consider them as a worthy and valuable resource.

When you are beginning to book a flight, and when you are on a budget, you start to realize just how many options there are that will undoubtedly make you begin to feel a bit overwhelmed. There are countless discount websites featuring discount deals with lots of fine print. From Travelocity to Cheapticket, TravelZooSuperSearch, Expedia. com to Tickets4Less, you will realize how many options there are that are all trying desperately to get your business. While you may want to spend hours upon hours upon hours sifting through hundreds of potential deals, you could let a travel agent do all the work for you. And the same deal with this competition of companies will come into play for hotels, car rentals, day excursions restaurants and more. You undoubtedly would have to spend a week going through all of this information just to book a flight and reserve a room.

With a travel agent, leave the work to them. Let them worry, stress and look through all that information themselves. That is their job and that’s what they are there for. And what’s more is that a travel agent can help to get you hooked up with all of the deals and hidden secrets before and after you leave. Some of the best advice you can get from a travel agent is to make sure you invest in a quality home security system before you take off. A travel agent knows the ins and outs of traveling safely, smartly and so when they tell you not to leave your home unprotected and to ensure that you guard it with a quality home security system, you know there’s nothing not to trust.

They also let you in on the secrets to traveling with luggage locks, making a phone call to your credit card companies letting them know that you will be traveling from Boston to London and to watch out for any ridiculous costs. A travel agent will tell you all of these security tips in addition to that valuable advice of investing in a home alarm. Between that little tip, which extends its usefulness way beyond that of a week long vacation, and a tip to keep your money, passport and cards close to your body at all times, you’ll be glad you went to a travel agent. You’ll be glad you didn’t spend hours upon hours doing frustrating loads of research when a travel agent could do it in half the time. And you’ll be glad you got a home alarm.

The 5 Biggest Mistakes Travelers Make When Planning A Luxury Vacation Home Rental

November 3rd, 2010 Comments off

Planning on renting a luxury vacation home? No more tiny hotel rooms, sharing a pool or bumping into strangers in the hall. The money you save, the privacy you’ll enjoy and the great experience you’ll have will likely change the way you travel forever. You’ll have the best vacation of your life if you just avoid these common pitfalls. Fatal Mistake 1 – Booking Your Reservation at the Last MinuteThe longer you wait to reserve the higher the risk of having to settle for a home no one else wants. Do you have your heart set on the beach on your birthday? To avoid disappointment make your reservation 3-9 months in advance especially for peak Easter, Christmas and New Year’s weeks. It’s true, you may find a last minute deal but it will probably be your 3rd or 4th choice. Decide whether your priority is the perfect vacation rental home or the take-what-you-can-get discount home. Fatal Mistake 2 – Neglecting to Check the WeatherWhat will the weather be like where you’re going? Will you have to strap yourself to a lamp post to go shopping in Thailand? Will you be trekking the Himalayas during monsoon season? In tropical locations the rainy season may have warm and sunny days with showers in the late afternoon. Early and late rainy season months may help you beat the heat. One perk of off season travel is the rates are cheaper. Ask which months are the rainiest and avoid them. The capital city may be 4,000 feet higher than where you’re planning to stay. Fatal Mistake 3 – Failure to Ask for Details

Does beach front mean a hilltop ocean view with a 20-minute drive to the beach or will you be a mere one-minute walk from wiggling your tootsies in the sand? Is the neighborhood noisy? You may want to be conveniently located but you don’t want to be kept awake all night by the loud bar next door. Are concierge and housekeeping services included or are they a separate fee? Does the price include taxes? How big are the rooms? Don’t rely on photos alone. A wide angle lens can make a closet look palatial. Don’t assume anything. When in doubt, ask. Fatal Mistake 4 – Not Fully Exploring Your Online ResourcesYou may have found a vacation rental on an online directory like < Homeway. com but check for a link to a personal web site (or Google it) and you may find more in-depth information such as room descriptions, guest reviews, more photos or even a virtual tour. Directories are great resources but have built-in limitations. The homeowner may have a blog or a YouTube page. Fatal Mistake 5 - Not Trusting Your Gut FeelingsAre you not "clicking" with the homeowner or rental agent? Are you getting vague answers to your questions? If it's a rental agent are your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices unavailable and does he keep directing you to other homes in other areas? It's extremely rare but there are a couple of unscrupulous independent agents who steal photos and info from homeowner sites, post them as their own then use them to bait and switch clients to their handful of "real" homes. One agent claimed to represent over 130 homes when he actually represented 9, 5 of them were his own. If it doesn't feel right, look elsewhere. Paradise Awaits!

Pet friendly Vacation Home Rentals

October 30th, 2010 Comments off

There are many families across America that cannot imagine being without their dog long enough to go on a vacation. Your dog is a part of the family and boarding your best friend can be very unhealthy for many reasons. Most dogs love to explore new surroundings and do very well on vacations with their family. Especially if you are driving to your vacation destination, and your dog travels well in the car there is no reason not to take him with you. You will need to find vacation home rentals that will accept your dog, but that’s not particularly difficult. Many people think their pup would not be welcome on vacation rental properties, but many times the owner of the vacation rental property is actually a pet owner, and understands your desire to bring your dog.

Reaching your destination will likely take longer if you bring a pet, but for many, it’s well worth the extra effort. Frequent stops may be necessary to allow your dog to move around and relieve him self. Be sure to secure your dog in a crate when traveling so that if an accident occurs he will be less likely to get injured. Add a water bottle to his crate or carrier so he or she can have access to water without it splashing all over the car. When you are searching for vacation home rentals, be sure to add your pet friendly request to your search criteria. Since taking your dog on vacation is so popular, many vacation rentals will accept them without giving you a hard time. They will probably require a deposit for accepting him, but if your pet is well behaved its well worth the deposit because you know you’ll get that back after the vacation rental property is inspected by the owner or Management Company.

Be sure to respect the rules of your vacation home rental surrounding your dog’s stay. If the vacation rental property owner receives complaints about pets on the property, he may change his mind about allowing them in the future. Please don’t ruin the opportunity for others to enjoy the ability to vacation with their dogs. You also don’t need to upset others nearby that are on vacation, and unfortunately not every one is pet friendly. If you will be leaving the dog alone for hours at a time, make sure he doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety. He absolutely cannot be left to bark and bother other renters. They have done the planning for their vacation and have paid for their vacation home rentals just like you have, and they deserve to have a peaceful vacation too. The people who manage the vacation rentals can’t afford to lose money, so they really try to make every ones vacation a wonderful one.

You will also want to verify that the area you plan to vacation in allows dogs. Some beaches have liberal pet policies and most vacation rentals located in the mountains are pet friendly. Don’t assume that because your vacation home rental is pet friendly, the area will be as well. Consider how much your dog will enjoy the vacation you have planned. If your dog loves to run on the beach and you have a beach vacation planned he will do just fine. If your vacation is planned around visiting museums, you may want to make other arrangements for him while you enjoy your vacation home rental.

Harley’s Home Based Traveling Barbeque Business!

October 16th, 2010 Comments off

No one could have ever imagined that a love for cooking something over a barbeque grill would save his economic life, least of all Harley. His passion for the enticing aroma of barbeque smoke has lead to something that has kept a roof over his head and something to eat when the wolf was at the door.

Like many Americans Harley lost his job in the current recession. Up until that time cooking barbequed ribs, roasts and chickens was just a hobby he enjoyed. Then came the unemployment line and with it the realization that that small amount of money wouldn’t pay many bills.

With no jobs to be found he relying more and more on his barbeque catering service that had provided a small income while he was still employed. He had been making a few dollars here and there, but now it was time to get serious.

The first thing he did was phone some of his old customers, telling them he was available to cook barbeque on their premises for the Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Labor Day celebrations. He also would bring his mobile hickory smoking barbeque grill and set up in their back yards for wedding receptions, anniversaries and graduation festivities.

He booked a few gigs and had someone take pictures of himself and the party goers for his album, making sure that his grill was in the background with smoke drifting lazily out of the exhaust pipe. The grates of the grill were always filled with barbeque ribs, barbeque chickens and other meats that the patron might want cooked on the grill.

Harley’s picture book of his barbequing events looked so good that you could almost smell the aroma of hickory smoke and sizzling meat. By the time he placed a small classified ad in the local newspaper soliciting customers, both individuals and commercial businesses who wanted a company party to honor their employees, he already had a respectable business going at home.

A pleasant challenge arose when he realized that the month of June was booked so tightly with wedding receptions on both days of the weekend, he would have to work two parties on the same day. By June there was enough daylight hours pull off such a feat.

Harley and I lived in the same neighborhood. I have seen him traveling down the road after having left a party with his barbeque rig traveling along behind him, on the way to another celebration. It reminded me of a black Roman candle chasing a Jeep, about to launch from the sparks flying from the live coals in the fire box of the grill.

The point of all this is that Harley didn’t give up when his income stopped because of the recession. After the initial shock wore off he used what he had to make a small income, never dreaming it could become such a hit.

In each of us there is an enthusiasm for something, though most of us never bring that passion to financial fruition. Harley loved to barbeque and never thought that it would be his economic salvation.

In the midst of such difficult economic times, the lure of aromatic hickory barbeque came to the rescue. After all, what’s a wedding without barbecue sauce running down your arms and dripping from your elbows as you eat a delicious baby back rib that has just been removed from the grill.

Simple Ways To Make Money Online, From Home

October 14th, 2010 Comments off

These are some of the easiest and quickest ways to make money online, most of which are the ones I started out with. There will be no survey sites because those are a waste of everyones time, there will be no paid to read sites because those are a waste of time as well. However you will find some affiliate, freelance, and blog/affiliate processes. These have been proven to work, and not just by me, but by many others. Once again (as if I even have to say it) you wont become rich by doing these proceeses unless you find the “golden key”. But they will give you enough money to live, or to live modestly, I know because I am living modestly from them!
Domain Parking – I did this a few years back when Arbitrage was permitted, but even though arb isn’t allowed any longer, individuals are still creating good money income from these programs. Try places like Sedo, Fabulous and Parked (very highly rated). Since arb isn’t allowed any longer it’s a good idea to make your domain a parking page if you receive a lot of natural or organic traffic. The steps are very easy. Find a parking program. Sign up. Point your DNS on your registrar from the domain you want to use to the domain parking DNS, set up the colors, templates, themes, keywords, etc. Traffic will get sent to the parking site and YOU will get a share of the profit made from your web site. Take a look at sites that offer 80% or more.
Freelancing – Many individuals online offer some sort of a service or have a specialty they are good at. These people can sell their services online in places such as websites, forums, even by putting an e-mail sig in their email program. In my own experience service forums or forums that allow service providers or have a marketplace which will allow you to make a thread with your shpeel and allow people contact you either through the thread or through PM are the best. This is probably my most winning way of marketing my service, so I seriously suggest you check it out!
CPA Programs – CPA is sometimes referred to as “Cost Per Action”, which has to do with the fact that most CPA offers by advertisers are about getting something (typically new customers by making sales). You can normally place CPA codes on your site, which will let you “sell” things from your site. When individuals sign up or buy the item, you will be given a certain percentage from the initial sale. Say you are advertising an e-book on your website and someone clicks the advert and goes to the site, they will buy the e-book for $150 and then you receive 35% of the sale, which means you made $52. 50 for just that one sale! These offers add up rather nicely especially if you get in with a CPA program that has high rates.
Ebay & Affiliate Storefronts -
As far as shopfronts go, I actually like Amazon merely because they offer many diverse products on the website. For example, I have a website, so I can go to Amazon and pick out different affiliates that I know that I will be utilizing at my joke site. Affiliates that offer such things as gag gifts, gag gifts, funny gifts, etc. Once I find the affiliates to use I won’t only set the affiliate links, but I can also set up affiliate websites. Then, I can either “sneak” in the affiliate links onto my blog, or I can also include the actual mini stores on my blog. This is good because people can visually see what I offer on my site.
Of course like I said above, there are a ton more ways to make money online, but really, if I listed every single way I may as well just write an e-book and sell it (which is another way you can earn residual income for yoursefl)!

Luxury Vacation Home Rentals – Read This First to Avoid the 3 Biggest Blunders

October 13th, 2010 Comments off

Having been in the vacation rental business for 10 years, I’ve seen firsthand how poor planning can completely ruin a trip. Are you thinking about renting a luxury vacation villa? You’ll have the best stories to tell if you just avoid these common pitfalls. Blunder #1 – Booking Your Reservation at the Last Minute The longer you wait to reserve the higher the risk of having to settle for a home no one else wanted. Blunder #2 – Neglecting to Check the Weather What will the weather be like where you’re going, when you’re going? Will you be trekking the Himalayas or visiting Thailand during monsoon season? Don’t let the term “rainy season” scare you off. What you want to avoid is seasonal monsoons and the one or two rainiest months of the year. Early and late rainy season months may help you beat the heat. In many tropical locations such as Costa Rica, it can mean warm and sunny days with showers in the late afternoon. One perk of off season travel is vacation rental home rates are cheaper. Check one of the many online weather resources for the weather report for your destination. Be specific. The capital city may be 4,000 feet higher than the beach resort where you’re planning to stay. Blunder #3 – Not Fully Exploring Your Online Resources

You may have found a vacation rental on an online directory like Homeway, VacationRentals or FlipKey – there are literally hundreds of them but don’t rely on directories alone. They’re great resources but have built-in photo and word count limitations. Check and see if the listing for your dream vacation home has a link to a homeowner web site. All vacation rental homes have names but some directories don’t allow the owners to list them. Google the ones you’re interested in and you may discover more in-depth information such as a virtual tour, room descriptions, guest reviews and more photos. Check and see if homeowners have blogs or a YouTube pages. A great resource for objective guest reviews is FlipKey.

Staying at a luxury vacation villa has all the advantages and none of the disadvantages of a hotel stay. No more tiny rooms, sharing a pool or bumping into strangers in the night. Luxury villas come with a private staff and most come with a concierge. You can even order up a private chef! Everyone wants a great value at a good price. You’ll save a bundle on restaurants and paying for individual rooms if you’re traveling with family or friends. Use the money you save on extra tours or order in an onsite massage for everyone in your group. Even if you’re an experienced vacation villa guest you’ve probably made at least one of the blunders above. Ensure you have a great vacation by reserving early, confirming good weather and finding out everything you can about your luxury vacation home. The privacy you’ll enjoy and the great experience you’ll have may just change the way you travel forever.

Working at Home as a Manicurist

October 12th, 2010 Comments off

A unique and fun Wahm career is to start a manicure service. If you have a license in cosmetology, or are thinking of getting one, you aren’t limited to working in a salon. Many women are now looking for a more relaxed manicure experience, and you can provide them that by starting a manicure service in your home or a traveling manicure service. You can go into business for yourself with little start up costs and great rewards. To start with you’ll need to get your license to manicure nails, if you don’t have one already. You’ll need to post your license in your place of business and also have extra copies just in case the original gets lost or damaged. If you decide to offer a travel manicure service, you’ll need a copy of your license to put in your bag. You’ll also want to have a system for keeping track of money set up before you begin. You can use a computer program like QuickBooks to track your money flow, or do it by hand in a traditional ledger. Appointment books and receipts are also a necessity. Finally, getting a business telephone number is a necessary step in setting yourself up as a professional in your field. The other necessary step is gathering all of your supplies and finding a convenient way to carry them from your home to the client’s home. You’ll need to bring your polish colors, manicure tools, nail polish remover, appointment book, receipt book and necessary supplies (including extra towels and cotton balls). Traveling to a client’s home is not for everyone, but there are many benefits to offering a travel manicure service. From your customer’s perspective it is much more enjoyable to have you come to them. One of the biggest drawbacks of getting a manicure out of the home for your client is that she has to drive home and avoid damaging the fresh polish. When you come to your client’s home, she won’t have to worry about ruining her new manicure. Although you won’t technically be a Wahm when you offer a traveling manicure service, you will have many benefits. If you offer manicures in client homes, you’ll reduce the number of people coming in and out of your home each day. In addition, you’ll be able to use your mileage as a tax write-off (make sure to keep accurate records of how much you drive for your business). Working at home can be isolating, so getting out of the house to do manicures can be a break in your day. Advertising your business can happen in many different ways. You can leave your business cards at local Laundromats, convenience stores, gift shops and daycare centers. You can also put flyers up at bulletin boards around town. Network with people that you already have contact with, like the parents at your children’s school, your husband’s co-workers and your former co-workers. Tell people that you are starting a business and get excited about it. Share with everyone you can think of. Before you know it, you’ll have a list of consistent clients who you manicure each month, or week. Starting a manicure service can be a great way to work at home and do something that you love. Instead of paying high fees for a chair at a salon, start your own business and have the flexibility and income that you deserve.

How to Get Along With a Home Nurse

October 10th, 2010 Comments off

Whenever you are dealing with an elderly parent who’s health is failing, you are going to be stressed. This is one of those times when you are not going to be at your best. You are already worried about whether you are doing the right thing for your parent by keeping them at home and hiring a home nurse to take care of them as opposed to moving them into a nursing home. You have to deal with the rest of your family. You are watching your parent, who was once the person who took care of you, grow weaker and more ill with each passing day. The good news is that when a home nurse is employed to take care of your aging parent they don’t expect to see you, or your family at their best. They understand that you are not going to be at your best. Hopefully they have been properly trained and know how to handle the stressed family as well as they know how to take care of their cranky, confused patient. The first thing you can do to make sure that the home nurse who is going to be taking care of your elderly parent’s medical needs is to make sure that nurse has a personality that compliments you and your family. The way you get a nurse that suits your family’s personality is being sure that you are completely honest with the agency you are using to locate the home nurse. Make sure your description of your family, their routine, and your parent’s medical needs is completely true. The more honest you are about your needs and requirements the easier it will be for the agency to match you with a home nurse. If your parent needs to be physically lifted an moved make sure that you request a nurse with enough strength to get the job done. When you are told that a nurse has been found for your parent, make sure you meet the nurse before they start taking care of your parent. Make sure this is a person whom you are comfortable welcoming into your home. If the nurse is, for whatever reason, not someone you are comfortable with, politely request a new nurse. Make sure that both you and home nurse are both perfectly clear on what the nurse will be doing while she is in the home. When the nurse is just coming to the home for a few hours a day it is easy to know and understand that they are a professional that is doing a job. The line between health care and house keeper can become a little more blurred. Before the nurse ever moves into the spare bedroom, make a list of what they will and wont be doing. Make sure the whole family understands. Having a clear understanding of the nurses responsibilities will make everyone’s life’s easier and will make the whole experience as pleasant as possible. Remember that the home nurse is a professional. They are in your home to take care of a family member, but they are not an actual member of your family. Make sure that your maintain a polite, friendly, but professional relationship with the home nurse

8 Ways To Make Money By Working From Home

October 10th, 2010 Comments off

Have you ever wondered how people can make money working from home? Have you ever felt like to sleep over in the morning because the bed is so comfortable and the weather is so nice that you don’t feel like going to work? You are not the only one. Many people wish to have such career. In fact getting more people nowadays is earning a very decent income by working from home and having their own part time or internet businesses. For these people, gone are the days of waking up early, staying back late, rush over lunch hour, sneak out to pay bill, and stuck in traffic jam commuting to work place. Making money by working from home is not something easily done overnight. It is certainly not a way to get rich fast! Common misperception is that running an internet business is easy and required zero start-up cost, but in fact it is not. It takes dedication, a little bit of upfront investment and hard works over a long period of time. Ones without the experience or know-how will probably encounter a steep learning curve in the process of acquiring the knowledge. One without patience and persistency will fail in long term too. However all the sacrifices will eventually be paid back if one has done enough right things. Before starting out, there are a few things you need to consider. It is important not to take a plunge from your permanent job by quitting, especially if you are starting out. Start slow, take your time in experiencing various stuff. Take time to think of what you can do. Some other question you should also be asking yourself like, what is my passion? What is my interest? What special skills do I have? Do you always feel like to do something during free time but just can’t start doing it because you didn’t have the determination? If you are serious in building a working at home business model you should seriously consider answering these questions. Assuming you have found your interest and passion and you know what you feel like doing, the next thing is how to express the passion and interest of yours. Ask yourself, do you know where to start and how? Or do you know what to do to express your interest? If not, don’t worry, there is numerous ways to make use of you passion, interest or skill set. These are some area you should be venturing:

Before closing this topic, I would like to reiterate. As I have mentioned before, having an internet business is not easy and certainly not a way to make money quick and get rich fast. It takes a lot of perseverance and hard works like brick and mortar business as well. But of course, when comparing with traditional brick and mortar business world, the entry barrier for internet business is still much lower. Needless to say, if the start up cost is low then cost of failure is low as well. So what are you waiting for? Start your own internet business now so very soon you can also enjoy the comfort of working from home!

Direct Sales & Home Party Plan Marketing Information : How Can Social Media Benefit My Business

October 9th, 2010 Comments off

The astute and very pleasant Direct Sales Consultant, known by the handle The Traveling SalesWoman, asked the following question of me? You were the person who encouraged me to join Twitter, and I’m so grateful for that!  Can you share some further thoughts about Twitter and why home party business owners should join in that conversation? Are you are brothers and sisters fan?  If so you have not missed the obvious connection between Sarah Walkers’ Greenotopia company and its’ many references to social networks and social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter! And if you don’t know by now, you are no-one if you are not on twitter.   I was amused to find that my vocabulary  has changed considerably over the past year!I am  Youtubing, plurking, Facebooking, tweeting, blogging, linking, MySpacing, texting and a host of other things too!  All these are some of the most popular social media sites and as you can see things can get pretty hairy, so I definitely recommend that you have a social media system. Direct Sales Home Party Marketing Tip: Any task you do more than once NEEDS a procedure, system or checklist! Before Bill Gates, no one had a personal computer!   One man single handedly revolutionized the world with a dream. . . his dream was that every home would have a computer!  His dream was to provide value to every single household in the world!Even after Bill Gates created such an incredible tool, that gave rise to the Internet, Easy Online access & E-Commerce; it STILL amazes me just how many people refuse, are afraid and/or have not taken advantage of the power of the computer and the Internet! Computers as far as I am concerned are the best social media tools (of course for the obvious reason without one you cannot access social media ?, yep)!I told the travelling saleswoman that social media and social networks are all about relational capital.   And like any thing social media marketing is an art form. The question I often get asked by home party consultants and direct sales reps. Is why don’t they buy my product.   The answer is simple, you have written a check, which came back with the red stamp mark, insufficient funds! (thanks Martin Luther King Jr. for that one). You see people buy because:i)    they know you,ii)    they trust you iii)   they believe that you have the solution the problem which the face andiv)   for statusPeople don’t buy a product, nor do they buy a feature and the benefits are as they are decided upon by the story they tell themselves.    Your juice drink mwy help me loose weight.   But the story I am telling myself is that I am going to look sexy, finally that size 0 pair of jeans that I have seen on display for a year will be mine.   I am going to get hit on by men…. you get the picture?  So if your pitch is not in line with my story…How does all this fit into social media and social marketing?  Simple, you are building relational capital, by depositing in the bank of getting to know you, getting to know all about you!  And you are not only doing it with one person, no you are reaching out to many in one shot! There are people on these sites that follow you, there are those that interact with you and those that want to see what you are about.   The cool thing about social outlets is that you are King and Queen of your own little internet real estate  King/Queendom!Social media and social marketing is all about building that relational capital that gives you the all access pass to make your direct sales pitches to those who are ready, able and willing to hear what you have to say, and have the money to spend on what you have to sell.   Do not under-estimate the power of relational capital!  How else do you think Pres. Barack Obama did it?  I will be holding a special in a week or so about “the Pres. Obama Social Media Effect : How You Too Can Go From Zero To Hero! For more on social media, and how to use it effectively, just google “social media blog!”

Hvmm 2010 Edition – A Trading Classroom At Home

October 8th, 2010 Comments off

Do you have a Trading trainer? In all aspects of life it often makes sense to have a trainer, mentor, coach. . . (whatever you want to call them) to help you with things like losing weight, doing your taxes, you name it. Trading is no different.  One of the biggest hurdles to finding the trading strategy and system that’s right for you, is truly understanding the method backwards and forwards. No matter how simple a system is, if you’re not properly trained, it’s just not going to work for you.  Once you’re trained and you’ve done your backtesting, trading can start to feel effortless. These steps seem easy enough, but often in-depth training involves travel – booking a flight, renting a car, finding a hotel, taking time off work – and it can add up. Apparently the guys over at the High Velocity Market Master camp have found a way around this. . . See how: ==> Sign-up for the HVMM Webinar here I’m interested to see how the guys are going to pull this off.  They’re giving all the details of the virtual training event this Wednesday, March 10th at 12:00pm EST/ 9:00am PST/ 5:00pm GMT, plus revealing the brand new HVMM 2010 system. I’ll see you there.  I have my list of questions ready for their trainers to see if they are up to the university caliber. ==> Sign-up for the HVMM Webinar here If you’ve already reserved your spot, then catch this sneak peek at how one of their trainers puts the HVMM 2010 to the test on the EURJPY: ==> Go to HVMM Blog page

Even better, we’re adding an insurance policy on top. . . 2-day live, virtual training. Sure, video training may work for some people. . . but let’s face it, not everyone learns the same way. Some traders learn the best when they’re being taught live (me included!). Of course, the drawbacks to receiving this type of instruction is that you’re normally forced to physically go to a classroom, meeting place, or hotel to experience this university caliber instruction. What if you could skip the headaches of booking flights, hotels and time off of work and still get the same level of live training? Impossible? It was until now! Coming very soon, we’re hosting a live, streaming feed of our very first 100% virtual 2-day training event! You’re going to love it – no travel arrangements necessary, no extra time or financial expense needed – you can save a tidy sum and still get the same type of classroom instruction by catching it all online. How To Enjoy Your Internet Marketing or Home Based Business Opportunity

October 7th, 2010 Comments off

Copyright (c) 2009 Kathleen Tremblay

If you haven’t been down this road yourself before, and you are part of an internet marketing busienss opportunity or the best affiliate marketing program you’ve ever seen, you have more than likely seen this scenario with someone else. You have been introduced to a home based business opportunity with a great pay plan, excellent training, and outstanding leadership. You have a great sponsor. You join, and you are ready to get to work.

It’s fine for the first week, after all, you are pretty excited about the home based business opportunity you just joined, right? Or, if it is an internet marketing business opportunity, you’ve watched all the tutorials, joined the forums, and placed some ads.

So, you begin to work whatever system you have been taught, but by week number 2 or 3, for some reason, you seem to have lost some steam.

Then, after the end of your first month, it’s all you can do to pick up the sales literature or log into your affiliate marketing system. You cringe when you see your credit card bill for your monthly investment in the business or your products. You have stuffed your contact file into a drawer. You have shoved all the product samples into the closet where at least they won’t collect too much dust. You have stopped working. You haven’t placed any ads, and you have been avoiding your sponsor.

Why? What happened?

To answer that, let’s take a quick look at why you joined to begin with. Let’s say you joined a home based business opportunity where you attended a business presentation meeting: Did you get excited by the hype and thrill where all the leaders and top-10 money earners smiled down from the stage and told you that YOU could do this too?

Or, if it was an internet marketing business opportunity, did you get excited by the video testimonials of the others who made a bunch of sales and had some big paychecks to show for it, and picture yourself as the next testimonial?

Why DID you join?

Let’s say you joined a food or nutrition business opportunity. Do you enjoy eating those types of products? Do you even enjoy the field of nutrition?

What if you joined a financial services opportunity. Are the services offered of value to you? Do you use them? Do you need them? Are you interested in whatever financial services are offered to begin with?

Look around at the most successful and happiest people you know – in and out of internet and home based business opportunities. What do you notice about them? I know an engineer who absolutely loves his job, and when he’s not helping design industrial structures for his employer, he enjoys reading Architectural Digest and planning home and landscape renovations.

You will notice that people who are successful marketing a travel opportunity tend to love travel, and use their product to take their own vacations. You will notice that the most successful representatives selling candles or cosmetics always use the products themselves.

Have you ever noticed that writers are also avid readers? Or that most musicians who play instruments or sing also enjoy listening to music? In my case, I enjoy writing about internet marketing and home based business opportunities. When I’m at a restaurant or on a plane, you will typically see me bent over a Success or Entrepreneur Magazine.

This is really the key observation: Notice when someone’s business and way of making a living has actually become a lifestyle. More often than not, these individuals are doing what they love; which means that they have played to their strengths, skills, talents, and interests which helped them determine their field, or in the case of the home based business or internet marketing based business industry, which affiliate program or opportunity to join.

So, it is important to examine the things you enjoy to begin with. Sounds simple, doesn’t it?

If you enjoy travel, find at an opportunity that includes marketing travel. If you enjoy cosmetics, align yourself with an opportunity marketing make up or perfumes. You get the idea. I don’t wear jewelry as a rule, so trying to recruit me to sell jewelry is a waste of time. It could be the best jewelry opportunity on Earth, but I will not be able to muster up the interest or energy to make a successful go at it.

It is also important to consider the structure of the opportunity. If you prefer working online and reaching a global audience, choose an opportunity that doesn’t rely on face-to-face business presentations in your neighborhood. Do you enjoy blogging? Do you love writing? Then, join an internet marketing business opportunity that promotes the use of these activities to market.

If you align yourself with an internet marketing business opportunity or other home based business opportunity that reflects the type of person you are: your interests, your passions, and your personal marketing style and strengths, you will find that you are more likely to enjoy working the business.

You might discover that you look forward to the work! You will be more likely to stick with it, and ultimately succeed, and thus getting to the point where there is little difference between your business and your lifestyle.

And that, my friend, is a great place to be!

Why Not Paint Several Luxury Travel Vacations With A Home Based Travel Business

October 4th, 2010 Comments off

Let me take you back a few years. After completing a wonderful round of golf where the native birds ‘laughed’ at my swing, I had just finished dinner with friends who then wanted to go to a night club located just down the beach but I stated I would meet up with them later.

I wanted to sit on the beach and reflect. I grabbed my bottle of ‘Becks Dark’ from the bar and walked out to the lagoon. The sun was setting painting an orange and red sky that words can not describe. As I sat on the white sand and dug my toes in, the solitude seemed perfect.

Once the sun set and darkness intervened, the small white caps of waves looked like white florescent lights being turned on then off, on then off, in every direction I looked. I realized then the ‘value’ in my trip. Reflecting back on this finds me wanting to experience these feelings again and again.

How long will I have to work to return?

Quite a sobering thought these days, working to return. Searching online for quality accommodations that are ‘affordable’ was somewhat depressing. Each day the boss is pounding for more results, faster completion and better products yet I longed for that scene in my mind.

To me a luxury vacation does not mean being pampered nor does it mean spending a small fortune for limiting my desired activities yet each travel site I looked through could not meet with my financial expectations of the locations being researched.

Then I found it. No it wasn’t ‘time-shares’ or a vacation club. It jumped out of the screen! I had my answer.

A Travel Membership. . . . . . .

Membership is reasonably priced and there are tremendous locations to choose where personal value exists. All I had to do was sign up to become a luxurious traveler and be able to visit many different destinations on my travel list. Can this be real?

Just by spending 1/3 of the costs I found on any online travel site researched, I am able to visit high quality locations everywhere around the world and truly experience personal luxury with every trip. “I’m in!” What I found out next is quite ironic; I could make this my business. What a concept, getting paid to travel.

With so many places to visit it is no longer a matter of where but when. Can you see yourself working while on vacation? Talking with other travelers regarding the deal you received isn’t really work nor is explaining the value associated with traveling to new and exciting locations but it is quite fun. Traveling, talking with new people and being able to write off expenses of each trip; heaven on earth.

The value idea stuck and happiness has been found. A home based travel business that allows me to travel to locations previously thought unavailable – has empowerment – has VALUE! Cruises, 4-5 star resorts, all at the click of a mouse button and available year-round. My golf game has to improve and now I can show those ‘birds’ I know exactly what I can do.

It is now time to travel and see what this world has to offer. Care to join me where we can paint many colorful experiences throughout the year on our ‘life-canvas’. Enjoy fabulous locations and scenes and events and people. Each experience holding the true definition of value.

“True value is in the eye of the individual. Do not allow others to define yours!”

Contemplating Becoming Part Of A Travel Home Business Opportunity? Well, I Have Something To Guide You

September 30th, 2010 Comments off

Imagine what you could do if you had additional time and additional money? What would most people do if they had additional time and extra money?Odds are, with more time and funds, most folks would opt for travel, whether on holiday, leisure travel, or on a cruise. According to the WTTC (World Travel and Tourism Council), travel as an industry, tops US$7 trillion a year. This represents one of the largest industries in the world. With such a big industry, there are also a growing number of Multi Level travel companies. Being a home business professional looking to get into the travel industry, how do you choose a business opportunity that’s desirable for you?The major purpose is to choose an authentic travel business opportunity that is an ideal fit with your personality. Ideally, you want a travel home business opportunity that makes sense to you and will make you money in the short and long term. Beneath, I’ve listed some factors you may find helpful when researching a travel company. Selecting a travel network marketing business and potential upline1. Before you even dig deep into the business, have a look at their website. Does the website look credible? Is there VALID contact information on the site? How long is the domain registered for? This in itself can set the tone for the kind of professionalism you can expect when dealing with this company. 2. Find out who the owners of the travel company are. Do they have sufficient experience and a proven track record? The long-term growth of a company goes hand-in-hand with good leadership. 3. Is the company a member of any major, credible association, e. g. , Better Business Bureau, Direct Selling Association, or a Travel Marketing Association? This is to determine the organisation’s credibility and honesty. 4. Choose a company with a proven track record of sales; preferably one with increasing sales of travel products or services in the last few years. 5. Of the travel company’s revenue, how much is from travel-related product sales, and how much is from recruiting, if any. If you have the greater part of revenue coming from recruiting, that’s a red flag for you. 6. What percentage of the organisation’s revenue do they give back to distributors? You want to get into a business that rewards its sales reps generously, but also maintains a sound financial base for the long-term survival of the company (to benefit you of course). 7. What are the sign-up fees and inventory requirements? Being in the travel industry, do you have any physical product requirement?8. How do you break even? What kind of downline organization do you need to be able to break even and get into profit?9. What kind of systems are in place within the travel business? Who handles orders and processes the payments on behalf of the travel customers?10. Is the compensation plan easy to comprehend? Can you easily explain it to potential prospects?11. Be acquainted with the products or services you will potentially be marketing on behalf of your travel Multi Level business. Will you be marketing cruises, vacations, dream trips to dream locations, opportunities for people to become travel agents, or a mixture of these? This knowledge helps you to market your products or services more effectively, and helps you match up the products to the right market. 12. Be 100percent sure the travel product or service has the possibility to add value and enhance people’s lives. Would people buy the travel products or services, if the business opportunity wasn’t attached to them? Would you be interested in the product if you weren’t selling it?13. Find out about your potential mentor. What does he/she bring to the table? I do not believe it is enough to just give you access to a travel Multilevel Marketing business opportunity. What other skills will they teach you? Your success will in a large part depend on your own determination and efforts, as well as your sponsor’s mentorship. 14. Given the economy’s state, the price point will be a major determining factor. However, price point must not compromise the quality of the travel products being sold. 15. Is there a duplicable procedure? Franchises, such as McDonalds have far greater success than most conventional business because of their proven systems of duplication. Does your travel organisation provide effective and easy-to-use recruiting tools that will allow you to recruit others, as well as help them be successful? Whether marketing online or offline, make certain you have a good duplicable system. Get involved with a travel network marketing business opportunity and guide that you feel the most comfortable with. Then find and put into action a proven marketing strategy you’re comfortable with. Your Travel Biz, Global Resorts Network, Traverus, Pro Travel Network and Coastal Vacations are a few of the many MLM travel companies out there. Each of them offers travel-related products and services, and they are all unique in their own way. The onus is on YOU to be choosey. There are , by the same token many scams, and you wouldn’t want to get conned.

How To Bring Your Travel Adventures Home

September 29th, 2010 Comments off

Let’s face it. No matter how great your vacation was, it’s tricky to recapture those feeling of relaxation and excitement once you’re back home. The newness of being in a different locale or trying exotic foods just isn’t the same when you mix up a box of prepared Thai food or look at a picture of a light house from your Cape Cod vacation.
That’s why getting away, on occasion, is so important. It’s a true chance to escape from your obligations and lead a different life.
However, it’s also important to be able to relax and enjoy your home when you can’t get away due to family or work obligations, rising gas prices and financial constraints, or health issues. Here are some suggestions to help you bring a little bit of that vacation-type enjoyment and relaxation to your own space.
1. Create a haven. You can assign a room, a porch or even a tiny little space as a special relaxation sanctuary. Maybe it’s an outdoor garden, a tiny room with a great view, or your front porch. The important part is that you use this space only for enjoyable and relaxing activities.
2. Assign an activity. Once you’ve found a spot, decide what it is that takes to bring back that vacation-like bliss. Is it sipping a glass of cabernet reminiscent of your Napa Valley tour? A cup o’tea to remind you of England? Yoga facing the woods to remind you of a spa retreat?
3. Visual cues. Finally, pick one or two visual reminders that bring your body to a state of relaxation. You could splurge on a white Adirondack chair for your porch, display the seashells from your beach vacation, or hang a tapestry bought on that exotic trek to Morocco.
The combination of a special place, activity, and objects will remind you that it is time to let the daily to-dos go for a little bit. Just by entering a spot that you’ve created, your body will relax, and your mind will slow down. The great thing is that you don’t have to enter a yogic meditative state to experience a slower heart rate and lowered blood pressure.
If it’s the excitement you crave, you can use this time to read National Geographic, or to plan your next get-a-way. Don’t worry if your current finances don’t make a trip seem likely, the joy of planning it is inspiring. Simply by envisioning what you want, the creative side of your brain is likely to step up and find a way to make it happen.
Travel adventures are part of the spice of life. Having a comfortable home to come back to is the substance. No matter how busy, overwhelmed or demanding your life is, try to create a little piece of it that will refuel you on a daily basis. Your will find that your energy level goes up, your relationships improve and you are much better equipped to deal with what matters.
