I have been to many places. We’ll I guess I’ve met different faces, different cultures, different environments, different persona or dispositions. You must travel and explore the world before you die.

Must see places before you die are; Paris, France a place for lovers, city of light and where you can see the famous Eiffel Tower. The Machu Picchu in Peru where it is known to be a historical place. The Tubbataha Reefs in the Philippines a nature park that has an underwater sanctuary for many species. The Jeju (Cheju) Island in South Korea famous because it is also known as “Island of the Gods”, a very relaxing place for lonely hearts and wandering minds. The New York, United States time square and statue of liberty.   The Egypt’s pyramid the tomb for pharaohs.

These are just some of the places I’ve always want to go, soon. Before living for a journey. You must first secure your money, you need it so much second to your life. Also, you need to list all the things you want to bring for the trip. Remember to travel light. Travelling alone is not easy; you have to carry all your baggage, so you must only bring the most needed and very important things. Also secure a passport and a visa, so you can cross borders if you want. No hassle and worries while travelling. You must also bring a camera to capture all those sweet memories in your trip. Bring flip flops or shoes for your convenient. Never forget to wear a smile every time and everyday. When you meet different people smile, be friendly. People love a person who is friendly and approachable. When you are in a place, learn something new like you want to learn some of their basic language like I love you, Hello, Good morning, Good night, Thank you, and your welcome. Take it down to your notes and put the name of the person who teaches you and let them sign it and also you must have a picture with that person. In that way, you can always remember the people and the place and whatever they teach you. And of course, make your self safe. You will never know what you will encounter in your trip. Pray and ask guidance so that you can return to your home safe.

Let me share this to you, while I was travelling in Asia particularly Philippines. I made all those things. And somehow when I look into the pictures of the people it makes my eyes teary. They are such a very accommodating people and they smiles a lot even some of the children have incomplete teeth.   I learn to love their place. I Also know what is “I Love You” in there language, it is “Mahal Kita”.

2. Musee des Artes et Metiers

The second most recommended on the list was yet another science museum, this time the Musée des Arts et Métiers located in the rue Réaumur in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. This somewhat misleadingly-named ‘Museum of Arts and Crafts’ boasts Foucault’s original pendulum, Formula One engines, and exhibits on everything from telecomms to quantum physics with a lot of hands on activities for kids of all ages.

3. The Musee National d’Histoire Naturelle / Jardin des Plantes

Also a top recommendation and perhaps the most enthusiastically recommended by one of our readers, The National Museum of Natural History Museum and the Jardin des Plantes garden surrounding the museum together act as a full day out for the whole family. There is an evolution museum  in a great hall filled with skeletons, specimens, organs and even genetic mutations! There is also a small-ish zoo, but beware – hours can be spent in this fun and walkable zoo.

4. Parc de Belleville

The Parc de Belleville is located on the hill of Belleville, and at 108 meters high, it is the highest park in Paris, and kids can climb a 30m tall terrace which provides panoramic views of Paris. Kids can let loose in the 1000m2 park, run among its 1200 trees, check out the 100m long waterfall fountain (the longest in Paris). There is also a purpose built wooden playground for kids, ping pong tables for all and an open-air theatre for the family to enjoy in the warmer months.

5. Jardin des Tuileries

This is the most central garden of Paris, and accordingly stunning. The Jardin des Tuileries is very near the Louvre, where you will inevitably visit at some point during your trip to Paris. During the summer the Fete Foraine is a ‘carnival’ of sorts, with a giant ferris wheel-slash-kid-magnet that adults love too, and the gardens and fountains throughout the park allow kids to run freely and safely while parents lounge in the many chairs and benches throughout the park.

6. The Musée du Quai Branly

The newest addition to the major museums in Paris is this Ethnology Museum in the 7th. The exhibits are engaging for kids and the design of the building is very entertaining as well. The museum offers not only intelligent exhibits, but scientific events, a cinema, workshops for kids and classes, and both theatre and dance.

7. Paris Metro Line 14 – Front Seat

Kids get a kick out of sitting in teh front seat of Metro line 14, an automated (driverless) line which crosses the center of Paris, from Saint Lazare and Olympiades. Line 14 does happen to pass through a few tourist sites such as the Church of the Madeleine, the Ministry of Finance, the Paris-Bercy sports area and gardens, Bercy village and the National Library of France.   This was suggested by a an anonymous blog reader, and what a simple and easy idea to keep in mind to keep the kids entertained!

8. Bois de Boulogne

Slightly bigger than New York’s Central Park and over 3 times the size of Hyde Park in London, Bois de Boulongne is known as the ‘main lung’ of Paris, located on the western border of the city. Inside the park is the Jardin d’ Acclimatation, an amusement park which offers a zoo, rollercoasters, a carousel, swinging chairs, bumper cars, and even a railway, golf and a small waterpark. The lines here are almost non-existent and prices are much more economical than a trip out to one of the bigger amusement parks outside of Paris. Entrance is €2. 90 per person (including kids 3 and above) with each ride costing the price of one ticket (around €2. 70).

9. Centre Pompidou

While a modern art museum is not necessarily a place associated with Family-friendly tourism, it is the exterior design of the building that kids particularly love at Centre Pompidou, with its exposed airducts, outdoor staircases and primary-colored exterior paint-job.   Also to note: Pompidou is closed on Tuesdays, while other museums are typically closed Mondays, making this a great place to visit with kids on a Monday, especially a rainy Monday.

10. Disneyland Paris / Parc Asterix

It is with some reluctance that we include Disneyland Paris to this list of Top 10 ‘Paris for Kids’ recommendations. Several readers suggested Disneyland, and the theme park is obviously aimed at children.   It is a perfect day outside of Paris, the kids will most likely love it, and so it is a safe option. Buy why go all the way to Paris and visit Disneyland?  A more original option would be Parc Asterix, an amusement park based on the comic strip stories The Adventures of Asterix located just 20 miles from Disneyland Paris.

Each year, since 2005, I have made it a mission to take a big trip.   A HUGE trip.   A dream-fulfilling trip.   And I do it on a full-time job, and a less than stellar annual salary.  Recently, I ran into a friend I hadn’t seen in quite some time.   The subject of traveling came up and she asked me how in the world I was able to go on so many trips.   “You don’t make that much money” she said, “and how does your boss let you go for so long?”It only takes a few minutes of your time to get going on your path to the world wonders.   Here’s how:GETTING THE TIME OFF WORK Finding the time and getting your work’s approval is actually the easy part.   It’s all in the delivery. Pull out your calendar for next year.   When would be a good potential time for you to take two weeks off?  Identify a couple different months that might work. Then one day, stroll into work and casually mention to your boss that you are planning a big trip for next year.   “When would be the most convenient time for you to have me gone for two weeks?”  Let your boss think on it for awhile, and then approach him/her about it again in a few weeks.   This soft sell approach can help ease your boss into the notion that this is important to you, and to start planning ahead for your absence. Work with your boss to find a few different times that would be most convenient for your work schedule.   It is a big deal to be gone for two weeks, especially if you are going to be without cell phone or internet access.    Make sure you are being realistic with yourself: do you have other days that you will need vacation time for during the year?  You might decide to take only one week out of your two week vacation as paid time off, and save the rest of your paid days for your other obligations.    Narrow down a few different months that might work, but don’t decide on exact dates if you can avoid it.   You’ll need the flexibility to choose cheap flights later on. FINDING THE MONEY Saving for a trip can be the hardest part.   There is a tendency to reach for the credit card, but if you are going to be stressed out over money while on vacation, then you won’t enjoy your trip.  I usually start each trip with a general initial budget.   That budget looks a little something like this:Airfare: $1,000Daily Expenses: $100 per day x 14 days = $1,400Splurges and gifts: $600Total initial budget: $3,000I’ll then take my total budget and divide it by 12 months.   This gives me my monthly savings goal of $250.  Now that I have an inital savings goal, I’ll go ahead and set up an automatic investment into my savings account of $250.   This way I don’t have to think about it, and I don’t spend it before I can save it. Whoa, whoa, whoa!   That’s all fine and good for people with large incomes, but who can afford $250 a month when you are only taking home less than $2,000 a month after taxes?Here’s the hard part.   At this point, unless you have $250 in disposable income each month, you need to ask yourself a hard question: how much of a priority do you want traveling to be in your life? If you’re reading this blog, odds are that you want to take the plunge and make travel a big priority.   If that’s the case, then sit down with your monthly budget.   It’s time to make a hard choice: what can go?  $250 a month is the same as an average car payment, would it be worth it for you to sell your car and buy a beater?  What about meals out and drinks with friends?  Could you cook or entertain at home more?For some people, $250 a month is just not reasonable.   And that’s ok.   Because even if you are able to squeak out $50 or $100 a month, there are still amazing trips available for you each year.  Now it’s up to you: is travel going to be a priority in your life? Marketers should consider employment status when allocating resources for targeting consumers. Full time employees make as many daily contacts as part time employees and stay-at-homers combined! A consumer package goods manufacturer might consider sampling its products in or near their targeted consumers’ workplace rather than, or in addition to, traditional in-home sampling. For purposes of the study, “contact” was defined as “any type of direct communication a person has with another person including spoken to in-person, by phone, or written via email, or instant/text message. “  Stay-at-homers tend to make more daily visits to chat rooms, message boards, free email services, forums, and any information station they can easily find. Including web site addresses and promotion codes in marketing efforts, making it easy to pass this information along online, is a tactic that works well with this group of people provided there is perceived value. Marketers often use household income of $75,000 as an affluence threshold but there was no apparent increase in word of mouth or (WOM) activity for people with incomes from $75,000 to $90,000. The results showed acceleration in WOM likelihood for households earning $100,000 or more. As expected, technology has a significant influence on how different generations foster WOM. Here’s a glimpse into the future, as well as today.   Younger generations are creating personal online media to a greater extent, with nearly half (49%) of Gen Y having built a website and one quarter having their own blog. When reaching out to their peers, one-quarter visit chat rooms or message boards daily and 17% of their contact activity is done through instant or text messaging.   Gen X and Boomers tend to use email more often and are more likely to spread positive WOM. These groups are ripe for viral email campaigns. An overlooked and interesting area for marketers is reaching Silver Birds through message boards and chat rooms. They have more activity in those areas than Boomers and nearly equal activity to Gen X. This is likely due to their desire to reconnect with family and friends, and to discuss health, medical, and other issues of aging with peers and professionals. At this time of their life they tend to go on cruises, flights, and lots of different locations all over the world, since most of them worked all their life and now have the time and most have the cash to do these types of travel. Duty-Free Travel Information The European Union, Iceland, Norway, Japan, Singapore, Australia and other countries have implemented new regulations regarding liquids in carry on bags. As a result, there are potential implications for passengers who purchase liquid duty-free items (e. g. perfume and liquor) while traveling to and from international destinations.   Because many duty-free shops in other countries are located before the security checkpoint, all liquid duty-free items purchased in those airports will be placed in special sealed tamper-evident bags in order to be permitted through those countries’ security checkpoints. The tamper-evident bag is not currently accepted through U. S. checkpoints.   To avoid the risk of having to abandon your liquid duty free items in the U. S. and abroad, please follow the guidelines below. Please note: these security measures only apply to liquid, gel, and aerosol duty free items.   For passengers traveling to an international destination from the United States: Duty-free purchases of liquids of any size from shops in the US are permitted if you have a nonstop flight to an international destination.   If you have a connecting flight in Europe, Japan or another international destination, US duty-free liquid purchases in containers larger than three ounces will not be permitted through security checkpoints because they will not be in the an approved tamper-evident bag. Note: If you purchase a liquid duty-free item in the US you will not be able to get a tamper evident bag for it before going through international checkpoints.   For passengers returning to the United States from an international destination:  On nonstop flights bound for the US, duty free liquids purchased at an international airport will only be permitted it they are delivered to the aircraft for passenger pickup, bought on the plane or purchased after the security checkpoint. If you are flying to the US and have a connecting flight, duty-free liquids that meet US requirements will NOT be permitted through US security checkpoints. If you have a connecting flight, liquid duty free purchases must be placed in your checked baggage. Since you will be required to reclaim your checked bags prior to passing through customs inspection, you can place duty-free liquids into your bags and recheck them for your connection.   This information will help you as you go from place to place around the world.   Some countries will not allow any sort of sprays, fruits, nuts, or liquors so be aware of the laws of the land to which you are going to so you will be able to bring your purchase into that country.   When traveling to an international destination with a connection, buy your duty-free liquid items on the last leg of your trip. In Europe, Japan and other countries that use the tamper-evident bag, passengers should not open the bag before the security checkpoint or else the duty free contents may be seized.   When returning from an international destination on a connecting flight in the US, use your time in customs to place any duty-free liquid items in your checked bags. Here are a few guidelines for carry-on luggage dimensions. Please keep in mind that you should verify with the specific airline you are using for carry-on sizes and rules. U. S. – Most U. S. domestic, non commuter airlines dimensions are 22″x14″x9″. Many allow a second smaller item as well such as a tote, cosmetic bag, briefcase, etc.   International dimensions are 18″x14″x9″.   This is a recommended carry-on size and will very from airline to airline. General Luggage PoliciesNote that when maximum size measurements are shown as a total number of inches (e. g. 45″) this is the total of the length, width and height of the piece.   There are standard sets of dimensions that go to make up these totals (for example, 22 x 14 x 9 is the standard for 45″) and if you have a bag that is an unusual shape but still within the total number of inches, you may find it being rejected.   Many luggage stores sell suitcases described as ‘carry-on’, but these suitcases are sometimes larger than the size most airlines will accept.   The safe maximum size is 45″, in the form of a 22″ x 14″ x 9″ bag.   Some airlines allow up to as much as 55″, but most do not.   Not only do luggage stores and manufacturers not always tell you if their bag is legally sized or not, but they also frequently miss-measure their bag.   Their measurements generally are for the inside of the main compartment, and assume that any external pockets are of zero thickness, rather than stuffed full of things (which can easily add another inch or more) and ignore any external framing such as wheels and carry handle (which can also add another couple of inches).   If you should be very unlucky and find yourself forced to try and squeeze your carry-on into an unforgiving luggage template by the gate, even one extra inch – if your bag is already at the maximum – will be enough to mean it doesn’t fit and you have to check the bag.   So you get on board with your large but legal sized carry on item.   However, what happens if there is no space remaining in any of the overhead bins, and you’re forced to place it under the seat in front of you?  Although your carry on item might be within the size guidelines issued by the airline, that does not guarantee it will fit under the seat in front of you!  It seems that the space under the seat in front of you is getting smaller and smaller, particularly with some airlines (most notably on international flights) adding bulky electronic boxes under each seat to control the at-seat video entertainment systems, and with more closely spaced seats that are, themselves, thinner than before.   Even if there isn’t a blocking box, due to the design of the seat frame and supports, you’ll find there might be the least amount of space under the aisle seat, a bit more space under the wing seat, and most space underneath the center seat.   At last – something good to say about getting stuck in a middle seat!  Even if, in theory, your bag could fit under the seat in front, you might find the geometry of the space and angles is such that you can’t manage to fit the bag into the space.   For many reasons – your own convenience, and courtesy to fellow passengers, you should focus more on bringing the smallest carry-on you truly need rather than the largest carry-on you think you need!  All airlines place limits on the number, the size, and the weight of what you can carry on to a flight with you.   Generally US domestic airlines are fairly liberal with these limits, and rarely choose to enforce them. Traveler’s survey In a June 04 survey of Travel Insider Newsletter readers, 80% of readers who admitted exceeding the official carry-on allowances said they did so with no problems.   Of course, ‘no problems’ is a relative term, and if you’re honestly abiding by the airline requirements and unable to fit your own smaller carry-on into an overhead bin due to the presence of massive outsized bags filling up all the space, you might have a different perspective on this!  94. 5% of Travel Insider readers say they do not exceed carry-on limits.   Personal Items such as a Briefcase, Camera, Handbag/Purse, Laptop (in carry bag), and other items not exceeding 36″ in total dimension, Reading Matter, Small book-bag style backpack, and an Umbrella.   In addition to generally allowing you to carry on one bag plus one personal item, many airlines may also allow you to carry on other items such as coats, hats and other ‘outer clothing’ items, ‘assistive devices’ such as crutches/canes and wheelchairs, diaper bags and approved child safety seats.   Unlike checked luggage, where you can pay extra to carry heavier or bigger or more items, with carry on, there are no extra charges.   If the airline enforces its carry-on rules, then your only option is to have the disallowed items checked. International flights often have much stricter carry-on policies, particularly with regard to the weight of carry-on bags.   Although most domestic airlines have no limit on carry-on bag weight, internationally, you will find that some airlines set such ridiculously low carry-on weight limits (sometimes as little as 11 lbs) that the weight of an empty carry-on bag is more than the total weight you’re allowed to take with you! You need to be aware of these rules, or else the next time you see someone desperately unpacking and repacking their luggage on the floor by the check in counter, that person might be you!  International airlines may have smaller size limits on your carry on bags, too.   If you want a bag that is always accepted on both domestic and international flights, you’ll need to choose a size or two smaller than the maximum allowable domestic sizes.   If your flight is on a really small plane, you might find that your luggage allowances for both checked and carry-on items are substantially reduced. It is no secret that backpackers are renouned for having a drink and a good time whilst gallavanting around the world discovering and exploring many different places and cultures. However, it is advisable that backpackers and travellers be aware of other cultures customs and laws. Thus, a little bit of research on backpacking information and travel information is highly recommended prior to waltzing on into foreign lands unaware of their local customs and laws.

We would therefore like to touch on the issues of drinking alcohol in some of the worlds worst drinking countries which can provide for a good source of backpacking information on these issues.

Prohibition or prohibition of alcohol is generally a law that either restricts or prohibits manufacture, importation, exportation, sale, service, and consumption of drinks with alcoholic content. These provisions may vary per country so here is vital information that could spare the traveller from some serious trouble. In the present times, if X=Islamic State, and Islamic State=No Alcohol, then X= Worst Place for Drunks.

8. Brunei

Brunei is an Islamic State, which in layman’s term mean simply, alcohol is banned. But as tabloid favourite Prince Azim drinks like a mad-thirsty camel after a traverse in the Arab Desert, it seems quite hypocritical. Selling alcohol is generally barred, and the traveller will find locating liquor stores a task…if there are any. Some hotels may carry spirits of sorts. A traveller is thus allowed to carry 12 cans of beer and two spirits of other sorts possibly bought outside Brunei. At any rate, no major sanctions exist for the violator.

7. United Arab Emirates

One tends to think, if alcohol is banned, how can I fully enjoy my stay? Islamic practices ascertain a no alcohol policy for Muslims, but to non-Muslims too? Let’s clarify. Sharjah imposes a no special conditions, all out prohibition on alcohol, with exemptions on Duty Free and a social club, the Sharjah Wanderers. Elsewhere, non-Muslims can have access to alcohol at bars or liquor stores any time. Restrictions on purchase of alcohol are exercised for non-Muslim individuals with UAE residence permits, who are required to have a “liquor license” to be approved by your employer, at least according to law.

Although nobody really checks licences in hotels and restos, liquor stores do random checks to be sure, especially if you’re looking too familiar. After all, there are but one or two liquor stores, like in Dubai.

6. Qatar

Alcohol is “restricted” by and large to sales in hotels and bars. Similarly, for expats with Qatar residence permits necessitate a liquor license to purchase alcohol. Qatar Laws also prohibit bringing in alcohol to the country and drinking in public. Violation of Qatar’s alcohol restrictions is a punishable offense such as jail time or deportation. For tourists, sanctions are lighter and may possibly involve a simple warning or confiscation, at the airport, for instance, which, with a reclaim form valid for 2 weeks, can be retrieved on exit from the country.

5. Kuwait

No ALCOHOL! Kuwaitis mean it. Muslim or non-Muslims, alcohol is strictly illegal. No importing, manufacturing, serving in hotels or bars, or consumption. It is quite serious because they do bust budding distilleries and talk about it on the news. Nonetheless, the rebellious will rebel. There are some expat restaurants that serve a special brew or tea. The good news: no corporal punishments.

4. Iran

Alcohol consumption and production is a soft crime in Iran. Violators, when caught by police, are meted with harsh penalties. Brews for personal consumption are allowed for officially recognized non-Muslims sects, especially for celebrations and religious rites as in communion, albeit begrudgingly. For Muslims, repeated convictions may lead to the ultimate punishment, the death penalty. For the creator of wine and distilled spirits, it is a little odd and a bit too steep.

3. Palestinian Territories

Drinking alcohol is literally banned, but a few free-spirited Jewish settlements don’t give a lot of crap. Watering holes are present in Jewish settlements, although business is done with limit and secrecy. No extreme harm is due to the bacchanals, but to independent store owners…yes. Suppliers or alcohol stores are destroyed, stoned, and burned down by Muslim fundamentalists who are not open to the idea of what is to them “disrespect” to Islam. Let it be said that non-Muslims, need I mention Jews, have more to worry than prohibition? To credit, Palestinian beer is just too good to stop selling.

2. Saudi Arabia

Although Iran’s death penalty is horrifying, sanctions do not extend to non-Muslims and tourists. Thus, Saudi Arabia tops the list primarily because the alcohol-slash-drinking ban is very heavily imposed with ultra major sanctions, last I heard. Home brews are allowed to some extent, but in secret and in minor quantities. Still don’t get caught because things will get uuugly. For a little happy time, it’s either weeks to months of jail time, public flogging time, or it’s high time to go back home. 1. Libya

The alcohol ban in Libya is possibly the most serious one. Even personal/private brews are heavily and totally discouraged. In this case, tourist or local, corporal punishment for violation of prohibition laws applies. Although a local black market makes alcoholic beverages accessible, tourists ought to reconsider, if not for respect for laws, for safety precautions. Some of these brews unknown to the traveller may be dangerous as to cost your life. These could contain impurities that have not been filtered.

Other Muslim countries have no bans on alcohol like Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt, while they may have some special customs. I know for Turkey, drinking on the streets or in public is a disgrace. Drinking during the Ramadan, even by non-Muslims, is downright disrespectful. In the end, it’s not about loopholes and escaping punishment. It’s all about respect to a country’s laws and traditions, customs and sensitivities, ain’t it? Alright, it’s also about the sanctions.

For the 2 years I spent living and working in Mexico, I spent most of my time in Mexico City. Mexico City is a very big city, with a population of 111,211,789 (July 2009 est. ), according to The World Fact Book. And although there are many great places to see while there, there are too many to write in this blog. So, here are a few that really caught my eye and should be on your list if your planning on visiting. 1. Coyoacan- Coyoacan is a very artsy, hippy, colonial-era suburb noted for its beautiful town center. It has cobble stone streets, old mansions, and several of the cities most interesting museums. This was also the home of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera. Coyoacan has a hippy feel with a very popular market every weekend in the town center(Centro de Coyoacan). At night, during the Christmas season there is an incredible slide show of beautiful Holiday themed art that is projected on the outside wall of the church in the town center. 2. Colonia Condessa-This area of Mexico City is a more upscale area and is very well known for some of the city’s hippest cafe’s, restaurants, nightclubs, and bars. The neighborhood is also well known for its parks and restored Art Deco buildings. From upscale restaurants, off-beat shops, art galleries, fashion shows, and nightclubs, you can pretty much find it all here. 3. Polanco- Similar in some ways to Condessa, Polanco is also a very upscale area of Mexico City. Here in Polanco you have a street named Mazaryk. This street is like the Rodeo Dr. of Beverly Hills, so be prepared to spend some pesos because Mazaryk is home to some of the best designers in the world. Other than shopping, there is also the Hard Rock Cafe, the W Hotel, and the Mexico City Museum located nearby. Most everything is within walking distance, the people are very friendly, and the area is very safe. I spent much time in all three of these neighborhoods in Mexico and I always felt safe and never had any problems. And I definitely stand out with my blond hair and blue eyes. However, when traveling in a foreign country one should always be aware of his/her environment and take the necessary precautions. In a later post I will talk about the safety and overall do’s and dont’s while traveling in Mexico. Some other places I would like to mention in passing, only because I did not spend too much time there. They are, San Angel and the Centro Historico. San Angel is very nice and has a great market on the weekends and the Centro Historico has an incredible museum where I saw a wonderful Diego Rivera exhibit, and not to mention the architecture. Oh! I almost forgot. Mexico City was built on the ruins of the Ancient City Tenochtitlan, which was built on water and was the seat of the Aztec Empire. If you go to the Centro you can view a portion of the ruins and a large-scale model of how the empire looked in the 15th Century. I thought this was VERY cool and was happy I got to see it.
