PIGEON FORGE, TENNESSEE…

Resort Maps, creator of more than 90 customized travel maps across the United States, England and Puerto Rico, recently announced Mark and Jennifer Ciociola as the new owners of the Pigeon Forge, Tennessee Resort Map franchise.

First created in spring 2006, the Pigeon Forge Resort Map represents the second Resort Maps franchise the Ciociolas own. The couple also owns and operates the very successful Gatlinburg franchises as well.

Resort Maps are colorful, hand-drawn maps of towns and cities, distributed free to area visitors at rest and travel information areas as well by advertisers. The Best of Pigeon Forge Map highlights local attractions, restaurants, accommodations, retail shops, real estate and other services in the greater Pigeon Forge area. Each advertiser on the map is represented with a display ad surrounding the perimeter of the map, including a color-coded grid locator and their actual building drawn, highlighted and labeled, making it easy to locate.

“Pigeon Forge is one of the fastest growing tourist cities in the South because it’s filled with action-packed entertainment, natural beauty, and lots of old-fashioned mountain hospitality,” said Mark Ciociola. “Resort Maps is a great business opportunity because it provides a great vehicle for advertisers to showcase their businesses while offering invaluable service to the nearly 11 million visitors to Pigeon Forge each year.”

Pigeon Forge is one of the primary gateways to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Located on U.S. Highway 441, Pigeon Forge is within a day’s drive of two thirds of the nation’s population. Pigeon Forge is five miles from Gatlinburg, 35 miles southeast of Knoxville, and is easily accessible from Interstate 40. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is the most visited National Park in the United States.

“We’re extremely excited about this opportunity,” said Jennifer Ciociola. “The Best of Pigeon Forge map offers a wide variety of things to do for people vacationing in the area or just down for a day or two. Our free ‘souvenir style’ maps can be found not only at the local advertiser’s shops but also at many non-advertiser locations throughout Pigeon Forge, Sevierville & beyond.”

These same colorful maps can be found on-line at www.resortmaps.com. Here you will find interactive maps of all 90+ resort areas to choose from. These interactive maps allow the viewer to read a description of each business as they scroll over each building and to connect to the website of the business for further information.

Since adopting the franchise model, Resort Maps has grown steadily to more than 90 maps distributed across 20 states as well as towns and cities in England and Puerto Rico.

“We publish over 20 million maps per year in more than 90 cities and towns for a good reason. Our maps are fun, easy-to-read and they really do make you want to stop and see some of the local attractions before heading to the next part of your trip. Our advertisers like them for that very same reason,” said Peter Hans, president of Resort Maps.

A Caribbean Cruise Or An All-Inclusive Resort For Your Honeymoon Travel Deal?

October 16th, 2010 Comments off

If you want to go to the Caribbean for your honeymoon travel deal, you have choices to make. You can do a Caribbean cruise or honeymoon at an all-inclusive resort. Let’s look at the pros and cons of each kind of Caribbean trip.

FREEDOM:

Are you an “on-the-go” person? Both options will allow you to explore the Carribbean. The draw back when cruising is that you are limited on time and locked into the ship’s schedule. But on a cruise you will most likely be able to explore more than one port depending on the length of your cruise and its itinerary. If you opt for an all-inclusive resort you will have a ton of activities to choose from without ever leaving your resort. Or you can leave and explore on your own the local attractions and do this on your own time schedule.

On a personal note, my husband and I vacationed at a lovely all-inclusive resort in Jamaica recently for ten days and the only time we left the resort was for snorkeling and diving. We were perfectly happy just enjoying all the resort had to offer.

CROWDS:

How do you feel about crowds? With the popularity of both all-inclusive resorts and cruises you will find yourself often surrounded by people no matter which honeymoon travel deal you choose. On a cruise ship you are confined to the space of the ship unless you are in port. You will be with a lot of people in an all-inclusive resort but, if you feel the pool is too crowded you can always opt to go for nice walk on the beach with your honey. Of course, you can always go to your room for some alone time, but unless you are fortunate enough to be able to afford a luxury suite on a cruise you will find yourself in rather small cramped quarters.

COST:

A Caribbean cruise and an all-inclusive resort are actually pretty comparable in costs. The secret to not overspending in either situation is to know ahead of time what is and what is not included in the price of each honeymoon choice. What you get for the quoted price will vary from cruise to cruise and also from resort to resort. Either ask your travel agent lots of questions or if you are doing your own booking, make sure you do your research. Then decide how much you have to budget for any extras and stick to your budget once you are on your honeymoon vacation.

OTHER GUESTS:

Do you want your honeymoon to be absolutely “kid free” or do you enjoy having families with small children around you? You will find resorts that are adults only, some singles only and others couples only. The same for cruises. Some cruises prohibit children from being on board. Pick according to your own individual preferences. Again, ask questions or do your own research.

GERMS/ILLNESS:

Caribbean cruises are definitely safe to take but, because of a lot of people in close quarters, it’s easy for germs to spread. Of course it’s also possible for germs to spread at an all-inclusive resort, but probably the least riskier of the two choices. Use your common sense and do your part to help keep the spread of germs down by taking normal precautions as you would if you were in your own hometown.

Another consideration that you must not overlook is the issue of motion sickness you might have to deal with if you choose a cruise for your honeymoon travel deal.

No matter what Caribbean honeymoon you choose you can find a great honeymoon travel deal by going toCheap Caribbean Hot Deals

Do it now. It’s never too early to make your honeymoon plans. Many great honeymoon travel deals come to those that plan ahead.

Opportunities in a Resort Management Career the Billion Dollar Tourism Industry

October 6th, 2010 Comments off

Tourism and commercial recreation is over an $800 billion industry in the United States. Globally, tourism accounts for approximately 12% of the Gross Domestic Product, employing 10% of the worldwide labor force. It is estimated that by the year 2020, more than half of all employed people in the world will be involved directly or indirectly with the tourism industry. In the United States, travel-related tourism is the first, second or third largest employer in 32 states.
Resort hotels and motels offer luxurious surroundings with a variety of recreational facilities, such as swimming pools, golf courses, tennis courts, game rooms, and health spas, as well as planned social activities and entertainment. Resorts typically are located in vacation destinations or near natural settings, such as mountains, the seashore, theme parks, or other attractions. As a result, the business of many resorts fluctuates with the season. Some resort hotels and motels provide additional convention and conference facilities to encourage customers to combine business with pleasure. During the off season, many of these establishments solicit conventions, sales meetings, and incentive tours to fill their otherwise empty rooms; some resorts even close for the off-season.
A hospitality management career is high-energy and social. You’ll meet interesting people and work in some of the most beautiful places on earth – anywhere there is a need for resort or hotel management.
The skills and knowledge developed in this field of study are leadership, marketing, qualitative skills, research and evaluation, programming (recreation, leisure and meetings), planning and policy, legal aspects, and communications.
Most hotel, motel, and resort desk clerks receive orientation and training on the job. Orientation may include an explanation of the job duties and information about the establishment, such as the arrangement of sleeping rooms, availability of additional services, such as a business or fitness center, and location of guest facilities, such as ice and vending machines, restaurants and other nearby retail stores. New employees learn job tasks through on-the-job training under the guidance of a supervisor or an experienced desk clerk. They often receive additional training on interpersonal or customer service skills and on how to use the computerized reservation, room assignment, and billing systems and equipment. Desk clerks typically continue to receive instruction on new procedures and on company policies after their initial training ends.
Hotel, motel, and resort desk clerks deal directly with the public, so a professional appearance and a pleasant personality are important. A clear speaking voice and fluency in English also are essential, because these employees talk directly with hotel guests and the public and frequently use the telephone or public-address systems. Good spelling and computer literacy are needed, because most of the work involves use of a computer. NEW BRUNSWICK, NEW JERSEY AND WAITSFIELD, VERMONT…

The map will include all key destinations in the greater New Brunswick area.

Resort Maps are colorful, hand-drawn maps of towns and cities, distributed free to area visitors at travel information and rest areas as well as at advertiser locations. The New Brunswick map will highlight local attractions and things to do, restaurants, festivals and fairs, accommodations, retail shops, real estate and other services. Each advertiser on the map will be represented with a display ad surrounding the perimeter of the map, including a color-coded grid locator and their actual building hand-drawn, highlighted and labeled, making it easy to locate.

“As a college town, there are always people from outside the area coming to New Brunswick who may not be aware of some of the city’s hidden jewels,” said Tona. “Resort Maps will not only provide them with an invaluable tool to help them get around but it will also showcase the many things to do and see in New Brunswick beyond the Rutgers campus. ”

Prior to starting her family, Tona had been a school teacher in New York City. As her family got older, she tried to re-enter the teaching ranks on a full-time basis, only to find opportunities few and far between. So, the South Brunswick resident contemplated starting her own business. The process led her back to previous family vacations when she first encountered Resort Maps.

“When my children were younger, we always picked up Resort Maps if they were available,” said Tona. “So, when I started investigating business opportunities, I did a little research on the Resort Maps opportunity. It seemed like something I could do and fit it in with my family life and the other things I do in the community. ”

A resident of South Brunswick since 1993, Tona has cooked and been an active volunteer for Elijah’s Promise Soup Kitchen for the past six years. Along with her husband Robert, she has also been active in coordinating an annual road race to help fund sports programs at South Brunswick High School.
